Recruiting – Chalk 4 Milsim

Following on from recent blogs, I’m starting a Milsim team here in the UK with a few friends. There are a lot of people I meet at sites who mention wanting to do it but perhaps either don’t know where to start, or have anyone to do it with. So…I’ll throw open an invite to anyone if the idea appeals.

Of course, Milsim isn’t for everyone. We’re looking to attend the biggest events in the UK, whether they’re Milsim or just “big games” where we can go and have a good weekend away. The core of the team consists of guys with a minimum of 8-10 years playing at a very wide variety of events, so we’ve got a lot of game experience to call on and learn from. What we’re looking for in players looking to join us is a determination to see out events and objectives, and not sack it off to go to bed or order pizzas into the car park. Also, we don’t want to see arguments with other players or marshals, GoPros galore, or players bringing a photographer along so they can pose for pretty pictures. This is pure Airsoft, and all about playing as part of a team. That’s not to say it’s elitist, we just want players who are willing to get stuck in and give it 100% rather than treating it as a social event. You’ll need to be able to stick at objectives and taskings, rather than abandoning them to go find some action elsewhere.

Where are we based?

Across the UK, between Newcastle and London. The aim is to meet up at events across the UK, rather than being a weekly local skirmish team, so wherever you are you can get involved as long as you don’t mind a road trip here and there when we do games.

What kit do I need?

The modern game is filled with Multicam warriors clad in plate carriers and bump helmets, sporting as much Gucci gear as they can molle onto themselves and flashing expensive gear like it’s going to make a difference on the field. We’re looking to turn back the clock to a simpler time, with cheap and easily available DPM surplus for that in-country look. There’s always a need for Opfor, and the Multicam/NATO/Tan teams at events are usually very well stocked, so it’ll be a green team outfit. We’ve seen a hell of a lot of kit that works for us at events, and a vast amount that hasn’t or just wasn’t needed. It’s a “back to basics”, no-nonsense approach with more emphasis on tactics and teamwork than buying some designer high-speed mag pouches.

You will need enough kit however to be able to sustain yourself in the field during an event, rather than bringing a campervan along and surviving off the burger van in the car park. Beyond what you’d bring to a skirmish, you’ll need a radio and some sleep kit, plus food and water supplies, and a way to carry it all. It’s not as complex as some people might make out though, and looking online at various Milsim kit lists there’s a lot of “just in case” kit and backups which aren’t always necessary. But we can help with that once you get started.

In terms of weapons, any Airsoft assault rifle will do. We won’t tell you you must have a Marui M4A1 GBBR to join the team. Use what works for you. Keep it simple, and reliable.

Without going into too much detail, that’s the introduction and hopefully it reaches the right people.
